How do I actually use my journal?

First things first: do not fill out the whole page.

Each dated page is designed to be revisited once a year for three years.

Year One: Write only in the first section.
Year Two: Come back to that same date one year later and write in the second section.
Year Three: Same date. Final section.

That’s it.

Fifteen lines. Same date. Three different versions of you.

The point isn’t to fill the page. The point is to come back to it.

Memory is editable. Paper isn’t.

Do I have to start on January 1?

Nope.

Start today.

You do not need to wait for January, Monday, a new moon, or your life to become suspiciously organized.

Open it. Write. You’ve started.

What if I miss a day?

Believe it or not, straight to jail.

Kidding.

Skip it. Come back tomorrow. Fill it in later if there’s something you want to remember. Leave it blank forever if there isn’t. We like to use our camera roll, calendar, & emails to retrace our steps if we cant remember what actually happened

Do I have to write all 15 lines?

Absolutely not.

Some days need fifteen lines. Some need five.

Some days are simply:

“What the fuck was that?”

Still counts.

What am I supposed to write about?

Your life. In all its strange little glory.

What happened. How you felt. Who you loved. What you’re worried about. What you’re excited about. Where you went. What made you laugh. What you’re learning. What you’re trying to let go of. The tiny thing you’re positive you’ll remember forever.

Spoiler: you probably won’t.

Write what feels worth remembering.

Why three years?

Because one year tells you what happened.

Three years lets you see the plot.

You’ll notice patterns you couldn’t see while you were living them. Things you desperately wanted that you no longer want. Problems that once felt enormous. People who arrived. People who left. Things that quietly became your life.

You don’t always notice yourself changing while it’s happening.

PRCHMNT lets you look back and catch yourself in the act.

What happens after Year Three?

You get to read three versions of yourself sitting right next to each other.

And that’s kind of the whole thing.

Keep it forever. Start another one. Or both.
